"The Right Tool: Getting a Handle on Gardening"

Roger Swain
Author, Retired host of "The Victory Garden" on PBS

North Conway Community Center

Time: 9:30 am

The gardener’s hand tools are all extensions of the human body, and each of the tools needs to be fitted to a person’s size, age, and strength as well as the particular task.

Roger Swain will demonstrate the right way to choose, hold and use the familiar trowels, shovel, rakes and hoes, inviting us to undertake a much more familiar, indeed intimate, relationship with each of them.

Gardening has been described as the slowest of the performing arts. The most durable parts of our gardens are the tools we use to make them.

Roger has written 5 books, was Science Editor of Horticulture Magazine for 23 years and hosted the “Victory Garden” on PBS.
