Jared Kane is the Executive Director of Branch Hill Farm and Head Orchardist of their Preservation and Cider Orchards. Jared’s cider has received awards in some of the world’s largest and most respected cider competitions.
Jared will speak on growing and preserving regional historical/heirloom apples and pears. Jared also searches out old or interesting apple and pear trees that can’t be identified (wild foundlings). He researches the fruit and if the trees qualify, he grafts them into the Branch Hill Farm orchard.
An Heirloom apple tree can live up to 200 years in the right conditions.
Established in 1962, Branch Hill Farm, located in Milton Mills, NH, is a 3,500 acre working agricultural farm and a winner of the American Tree Farm System Awards. It is run by the Carl Siemon Family Charitable Trust which is a non-profit foundation.
