“How to Make Large, Lush, Private Low Maintenance Gardens”

with Robert Gilmore

It’s May!  The tulips and daffodils are blooming.  The weather is getting warmer and we are ready to start planning our woodland gardens.  

 

We were in for a special treat as Scholarship recipient Andreava Kasianchuk came back to visit and tell us about Ithaca College and her Environmental studies.  We also heard Michelle LaRue from the Kennett Middle School about their “No Child Left Inside” program and how we could help.

 

For our program, author and landscape designer, Robert Gilmore explained how to create colorful but low-care gardens with trees, shrubs and ground covers instead of high-maintenance lawns and flower beds.  He also showed us how to create privacy with berms.  Robert Gilmore is the author of “The Woodland Garden” and “ Beauty All Around You: How to Create Large, Lush, Low-Maintenance Gardens, Even on Small Lots and Small Budgets”.

 

 

Over 60 members and guests were in attendance for this lecture and book signing.  

 

Lots of good information, education and above all ... It was very entertaining!
