July 2018 - Mountain Garden Club "Afternoon in the Garden"
The MGC celebrates 45 Years and is recognized for an award by the Ham Charitable Foundation

Garden club members, guests from the New Hampshire Federation of Garden Clubs (NHFGC) and the Ham Charitable Foundation enjoyed an "Afternoon in the Garden" at the Chocorua home of new members Neysa and Kim Packard which is also known as the "The Farmstand Bed and Breakfast Inn".

We toured the extensive gardens of the farm and then settled into the Events Barn to celebrate our 45th anniversary, presided over by President, Deb Holmes.

We were honored to have Bob Murphy, Linda Eldridge and Sut Marshall from the Ham Charitable Foundation join us for this event. Bob Murphy, Ham Foundation Executive Director presented "The Ham Charitable Foundation Community Volunteer Award" to the club which was received by past president, Wendy McVey (as the award was originally to be given during her term in office last October). He then presented a check to current presidennt, Deb Holmes for a $1,000 check in honor of work on our valley beautification sites and special projects.

Also, joining us for the day were Joyce Kimball - NHFGC President, Sue Miner - NHFGC First Vice President, Fern Doucette - NHFGC District I Director (and her husband, Bob). Joyce made a lovely speech in recognition of the club's accomplishments. Afterwards, everyone settled in for a bit of socializing and fun.

Our town of Freedom members arranged refreshments, the nearby Whippletree Winery provided locally produced wine, and members came to this “just for fun” event from our entire geographic area -- Jackson to Eaton, Conway to Sweden, Maine.
